Let's be straight.
I need to lose 20 lbs.
I've tried and tried to get down to my goal weight and just haven't been able to stay motivated.
So what do we do when we need a little weight-loss motivation?
BLOG ABOUT IT, of course!
How embarrassing.
But I am really hoping that this will help me stay motivated, but also excited.
I plan on also sharing some of my tips, funny stories, obstacles and recipes that I encounter along the way.
And I'm really hoping that you will be able to leave some tips too.
Here's the obligatory before pictures.
This is me first thing in the morning, before breakfast or exercise.
Hello... love handles.
And no, my arms do not naturally hang like an orangutan. I was trying to show my curves.
So yesterday I wrote out my PLAN.
Exercise: Monday-Saturday. M, W, F Shred, Tu & Th jog.
Eat: >1500 calories/day
Goal: Lose 20 pounds by August 1st.
That is a little less than 2 pounds per week. That is totally doable, but knowing myself and how I like to cheat we shall see (plus Mothers' Day, my birthday coming up and a few vacations). But if the end goal is too far away I wont stay motivated. So August 1st it is!
I find that I can't just set a goal. I have to have short-term rewards/punishments to keep myself motivated.
Reward: If I stick to my weekly plan I can have 300 extra calories to spend over the weekend.
Punishment: An IOU to Brett. He chooses.
Okay, there we have it!
Now- who's in?? Anyone else want to join me?

You know I'm in!
I'm in too! My SIL gave me a goal of 30 lbs. in 15 weeks but I think that is CRAZY so I'm working on 20 lbs. in 15 weeks...
Right now my motivation is planning a cruise in August (even though now it's looking like we won't be able to go) - but I'm planning on rewarding myself with a bathing suit worthy trip SOMEWHERE even if the cruise doesn't work out. So far (about 12 hours into it) I am still motivated. LOL
And as far as food this go around -I'm trying not to eat ANY bread or pasta. Any other snacks HAVE to be around 100 calories. So if I want chocolate, that's fine. Only 100 calories worth!
I'm using the app My Fitness Pal and trying to stick to 1200 calories/day.
Good luck!
My tip is more health than weight-loss related, but it helped my mom a lot. It is this: No white flour and no white sugar.
Or as I like to say, Make Carbs Count!
If you're gonna eat something with calories, make it something that will help you feel full and give you energy.
You probably already know all this, but I thought I'd mention it.
Yessss! This is so much better with a buddy! I forgot to mention that Kacey and I check in starting today to track whether we exercise or not. If we dont, then the other person issues a punishment such as 25 pushups or something. That REALLY helped when I lost the first 20+ pounds.
Rebecca, it would be so awesome if you could check in here every week so we can keep each other motivated! Will you? I love the idea of going on a trip to celebrate, especially a cruise! Why do you think you might not be able to go?
If you do the no sugar thing (which i've done and not only does it work but after the first three days of sugar withdrawel i feel AWESOME and have NO gas) use the sugar free fudgesicles by Popsicle. They are really good.
Don't drink your calories. Seriously. Just water.
Good luck.
Rebecca: YOU TOTALLY could do the 30 pounds! Try it, you might surprise yourself!
Mary, I am SO addicted to sugar. I think I'll try this in a few weeks after getting settled into my routine.
Heather, when you say don't drink your calories you mean soda and sugary juice, right?
I started my diet today too! (I start every monday) My latest low cal obsession is carrots dipped in garlic humus. SO GOOD!
*hummus
I will be weighing in on Wednesday's so I will check in every week with an update!
And with the cruise I didn't realize we would have to pay for the girls, I assumed it was like flying (free until 2) so now my cost just doubled, which is way less appealing...blah.
Ooh, Amy! Where do you get the garlic hummus? Costco?
Rebecca, that is so ridiculous that you have to pay for two BABIES. Hope you can work it out.
Ok, I know people hate to hear this when they are working on it, but I do not even see where you are going to get 20 pounds off. And I am so there.
Pssss! Christy! I could name a few choice spots, but thank you! I actually DO like to hear that. ;) I would like to know where YOU plan on dropping a few lbs. How much do you want to lose?
I am WAY lumpier than you are! :) I don't have a number in mind, to tell the truth I don't even know how much I weigh! I just want to see some of the lumps go away and basically be able to kick butt again.
HA! Your biggest lumps are not the lumps you want to get rid of! My lumps are on my hips, thighs and abs!
